Staying safe while you look for a match
Most people on Tribal Hearts are here for the same reason you are. A few are not. This guide explains what we do to protect you, what you can do yourself, and where to get help in India if something goes wrong.
What a Verified badge tells you, and what it doesn't
A Verified badge means a person on our team checked that member's government ID and caste certificate. It tells you the person is real and belongs to a tribal community.
It does not tell you about their character, their marital history, their job or their family. Verified Plus adds a checked income proof, and Fully Verified adds a checked address proof; see badge levels. Treat any badge as a good start, then get to know the person and their family the way you always would.
Keep your personal details private at first
- Do not put your phone number, home address, Aadhaar number or workplace address in your profile or in early messages.
- Never share a one-time code (OTP) with anyone. Our team will never ask you for one.
- Never send photos of your ID or caste certificate to a member. Documents go only through the verification page in the app.
- Use the privacy settings in the app to choose who can see your profile and who can send you interests.
- Share your number, or move to another app, only once you trust the person. You can keep talking in Tribal Hearts chat for as long as you like.
Money: the warning sign that matters most
The most common trick on matrimony sites is a request for money. It often comes after weeks of friendly talk, with a story that sounds urgent: a hospital bill, a customs fee for a gift sent from abroad, a fee to release a job offer or a visa, or an "investment" they want to help you with.
- Never send money, mobile recharges, gift cards or UPI payments to someone you met online, however real the story sounds.
- Never scan a QR code or approve a UPI "collect request" that a match sends you. Approving it takes money out of your account. You never need to enter your UPI PIN to receive money.
- Tribal Hearts never asks for payment in chat. Premium is bought only inside the Android app, through Google Play.
- If you have already paid, call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in straight away. The sooner you report, the better the chance of stopping the payment. Then report the member in the app.
Other signs to slow down
- They will not show their face clearly, or always have a reason not to speak with your family.
- Their story changes: a different district, job or age from one conversation to the next.
- They push you to leave the app at once, or ask you to keep the conversation secret from your family.
- They speak of love or marriage very quickly, before you know each other.
- They say they work abroad or in a posting far away and can never meet or talk on video.
- They ask for private or intimate photos. Never send them. Block and report the member.
If something feels wrong, trust that feeling. You can block anyone at once, and reports reach our team directly.
Meeting for the first time
- Meet in a busy public place during the day.
- Tell someone in your family where you are going, who you are meeting and when you will be back. Better still, take a family member or friend with you.
- Arrange your own travel both ways, and keep your phone charged.
- Do not agree to meet alone in a hotel room or an empty house.
- In many families the first meeting is between the two families. That is a good and safe way to begin.
For parents and family members
If you are helping a son, daughter, brother or sister use Tribal Hearts, these steps help:
- Sit together while making the profile, so the tribe, clan and family details are right.
- Let them lead the conversations, and stay close by so they can ask you anything.
- Speak with the other family directly before any plans are fixed, and visit each other the way your community usually does.
- Check what matters to you, such as job or education, the way you would for any proposal: through people who know the family.
- Dowry is a crime in India under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. A demand for money or goods is a reason to stop, and it can be reported to the police.
- The legal age for marriage in India is 21 for men and 18 for women (Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006). Tribal Hearts is only for adults aged 18 or older.
What Tribal Hearts does to protect you
- A person on our team checks documents before any Verified badge appears, and only verified members can chat.
- You can block or report anyone in one tap. Reports reach our team directly.
- Privacy settings let you choose who can view your profile and send you interests.
- On Android, screenshots are blocked on chats, on other members' profiles and photos, and on ID documents.
- Our team can put an account on hold or suspend it when it breaks our Community Guidelines.
